May 12, 2021, Brantford, ON – The Paris Beer CO. has become the first client to rent a Janus entranceway mask and thermal detection unit, for its retail entrance at Wincey Mills in Paris, ON.  Solutions Into Motion, the proprietor of Janus in North America, recently began offering Janus units for rent through its internal sales and dealer network.

The Paris Beer Company hires Janus

The Paris Beer Company is expanding its operations in Wincey Mills, to grow the capacity of its seating and retail bottle shop. The idea is that, once indoor retail is back up and running, after COVID restrictions are lifted, the seating area protocols will remain monitored by staff, while the more fluid retail bottle shop entrance will be monitored by Janus. Paris Beer Company is not looking to replace the human touch, however does see opportunity for systems and technology to help out in challenging times.

“This is a tough time to be in the hospitality, restaurant or retail business and COVID is making everything so inhospitable. We need to be uber safe and manage all these new pandemic related protocols and there is a lot of pressure,” says Jennifer Von Schleinitz, Venue Manager at The Paris Beer Company. “Janus helps to relieve some of that pressure, by letting our customers know we care and are doing our due diligence. And so far most people seem to have fun with Janus,” she adds.

Janus also features mask recognition technology that alerts for non-compliance of mask wearing requirements. If a mask is not present, or even if it is not positioned on the face properly, Janus will politely ask the customer to ‘please wear a mask’.  Janus has been configured to instantly monitor body temperature and ‘welcome’ patrons into a venue if temperature readings are below 37.3°C (99°F), the temperature threshold outlined by the government of Canada’s public health guidelines. If Janus detects a customer entering with a high temperature, the device will audibly ask the person to ‘please wait for assistance from a staff member’. At this point the process will be done again, leaving the final decision up to the staff member on whether to permit entrance or not. If the mask and temperature are both in compliance, Janus will say ‘Welcome to The Paris Beer Company’.

Janus does not store any personal data and meets all personal privacy guidelines.

“The feedback we are getting from our restaurant clients about Janus has been overwhelmingly positive. Customers are comfortable with Janus and ultimately like that this technology is there and being used to help ensure a safe environment in the restaurant,” says Vince Poloniato, President at Solutions Into Motion.
