Claybar Contracting has been providing petroleum contracting throughout Ontario and beyond for over 50 years. Claybar designs, builds, maintains and services large petroleum and general contracting projects for corporate and retail fueling stations, hospitals, airports, retail stores, municipalities and reserves, and more.

Established in 1965, the company has grown and diversified into a multi-disciplinary firm, with active jobs spread across the entire province of Ontario. The company operates a wide range of vehicle fleet and construction equipment to, allowing them to work multiple large and complex jobs simultaneously across a wide region.

Claybar has been using Trackem GPS for well over a decade and now have over 120 GPS trackers deployed in the field, across a variety of fleet and construction assets. “Over the years, we have become so familiar with the Trackem GPS system and finding new ways to use it, which is a credit to how easy the system is to manage and use,” says Nick Capretta, from Claybar Contracting Inc.

They have elected to go with hard-wired Trackem Fleet Trackers and Trackem Rugged Trackers to track all their assets. Claybar has installed these on all their pick-up trucks, excavators, backhoes, skid steers, mini ex’s, smooth drum rollers, forklifts and more.

Claybar management uses Trackem to solve common business problems. “Having real-time access to the location and status of all our assets is critical. This allows us to promptly deal with any scheduling conflicts or requirements for asset relocation,” says Capretta. The company relies on unlimited geofencing and real-time notifications to manage fleet vehicles, field assets and knowing the location of workers.

Other functions that Claybar values are the ability to monitor vehicle events such as harsh braking and cornering, as well as speeding and when ignition is on or off. These features enable them to correct any negative driving behaviours, in efforts to increase safety, decrease auto insurance costs, decrease maintenance costs and decrease fuel consumption and costs.
